PM for just, equitable solution of Palestine conflict

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz stressed the need for a just and equitable solution of Palestine issue in accordance with the aspirations of the Palestinian people. Addressing the Foreign Ministers conference of seven like-minded Muslim countries here on Sunday, the Prime Minister emphasized to adopt a joint strategy to meet the challenges of terrorism, extremism and other issues faced by the Muslim Ummah. Shaukat Aziz during the conference said Pakistan is playing a pivotal role in resolving conflicts in Middle East and all concerned countries in this regard are being taken into confidence. Shaukat Aziz while emphasizing for restructuring of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) said that Pakistan is ready to play any role it is awarded provided the issue of Palestine is resolved from OIC platform. It is the need of the hour to find sustainable and peaceful solution of the issue on OIC level with the joint efforts of all stakeholders, he added. The Prime Minister said that Pakistan was in touch with the countries who did not take part in the conference with an aim to take all parties into confidence for a resolution of that issue. Shaukat Aziz said that all new ideas in this regard are under consideration and the objective of the conference is to create synergy on these initiatives. The Prime Minster expressed his optimism that after the formation of unity government in Palestine, the situation would improve and would be helpful in the establishment of Independent Palestine state. Expressing his views on alarming security situation in Iraq, Shaukat Aziz said that every one is concerned over deteriorating situation in Iraq, adding that joint and coordinated efforts are needed to improve the situation. The most important thing is that Iraqi people should be given the power to decide their fate with their own choice, added the Prime Minister. Talking on Lebanon situation, the Prime Minister said that peace and unity is needed enormously there and efforts are needed to secure the sovereignty and integrity of Lebanon. Shaukat Aziz while sharing Pakistan's views on Iran nuclear issue said Pakistan wants peaceful solution of the issue and use of force should be avoided, Every country has the right to use Nuclear Technology for peaceful purposes under the safeguard of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The Prime Minister has expressed hope that the issue would be solved through diplomatic channels. Shaukat Aziz said that the strategy of enlightened moderation is vital to lessen gap between Islam and the West. He stressed the role of powerful countries and Western powers for peaceful and sustainable solutions confronting Muslim Ummah.
