World asked to press India to set its HR records straight
25 September, 2012
Srinagar: The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressed a number of seminars, symposiums and roundtables and met some international personalities including Head of UN Human Rights Commissioner Asia Pacific, Rury Mungoven, Laura Schulke of International Human Rights Watch in Geneva.
The APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that during these meetings and interactions, the Mirwaiz made a mention of blatant human rights violations by Indian armed forces in every nook and corner of occupied Kashmir.
The APHC Chairman informed the world leaders of how the people of Kashmir were being eliminated in custody, subjected to arbitrary arrests and how the inmates were being deprived of basic facilities in contravention to the Geneva Convention.
The Mirwaiz urged these leaders to impress upon the Indian government to set its human rights record straight and take steps to give the people of Kashmir their inalienable right to self-determination through implementation of the UN resolutions.
End.
