SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, has said that Indian troops under the protection of draconian laws are engaged in the massacring of innocent Kashmiris in the territory.

Shabbir Ahmed Shah said this in a meeting in Srinagar, today, with senior Indian politician, prominent lawyer and head of the New Delhi-based Kashmir Committee, Ram Jethmalani. The senior APHC leader deplored that India claimed to be the largest democracy of the world but it had usurped all democratic rights of the Kashmiri people.

Shabbir Shah maintained that the Kashmiris were struggling to secure their inalienable right to self-determination promised to them by India at the international fora and they would continue their struggle till its logical end.

He urged Ram Jethmalani to inform the Indian people about the ground situation of the occupied territory where recently two innocent youth were murdered ruthlessly by the troops in Bandipora and Shopian areas. Hurriyet leaders including Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Yasmeen Raja, Zafar Akbar Butt, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Farooq Ahmed Dar and Javed Ahmed Mir were also present on the occasion.

The Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Hurriyet in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly denounced the issuance of warrants against its leader, Muhammad Ashraf Laya, in a false case registered against him twelve years ago.

The family members of illegally detained Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, in a statement in Srinagar appealed to the international community to impress upon India to release him forthwith.

The Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee at a meeting in Srinagar appealed the people to massively participate in a gathering being organised at Aali Kadal Masjid in Srinagar, tomorrow, to pay tributes to prominent liberation leader and religious scholar, Mirwaiz Muhammad Yousuf Shah, on his martyrdom anniversary.

End.
