Pakistan’s Foreign policy should be based on Kashmir issue: Sallahuddin
01 April, 2008
KARACHI: The Supreme Commander of Muttahida Jihad Council Pir Sallahuddin has stressed that Pakistan’s Foreign Policy should be Kashmir based and centered. Addressing a press Conference here in Karachi, he said that Kashmiri freedom fighters were engaged in guerilla warfare against the occupational Indian troops to wear them out of their stamina and fighting spirit, expressing his great satisfaction and trust in the recent statement of PM, Yousaf Raza Gilani, about taking all the parties in confidence over the issue, and lauded the stance if it was successfully implemented. He said that Kashmiris were basically peace-loving Nation who had been forced to take up arms of Independence due to brutalities and forcible occupation of Kashmir, and despite the immense presence of 700,000 troops in the region had failed to stem the tide of Independence. He termed the issue of Kashmir as quite simple and straight, since the Kashmiris had been promised the issue based on self -rule by UN, but the issue was still pending, solely due to stubbornness of India. Citing Kashmiris as the third integral party, alongside Pakistan and India in the issue, he said that dialogue was the most important and easy way out, shunning any need for militancy. Agreeing that efforts were underway globally to solve the issue, he strongly warned about any nefarious efforts to divide Kashmir, and berated the brutal Indian attitude of plundering Kashmiri resources with impunity. "The issue of Kashmir is equally useful for entire world besides Pakistan-Indian relations, since if not immediately controlled would engulf the entire World. Already three wars have been fought over the issue, besides an active struggle for Independence for 20 continuous years" he said. Referring to the recent statement of "leaving the Kashmir issue to future generations", he warned that such kind of statements would be akin to committing suicide. He also castigated India for enacting the drama of "autonomous elections" in the occupied valley and said that Occupational Indian troops would be used to cast their votes in favor of India. He said that if elections are ever to held in Kashmir, than they should be held in the absence of massive 700,000 occupational troops, and in presence of a neutral UN Commission. He said that Kashmir struggle was at its all-time high, but was discarded by the government at the prime hour, with its "flexible approach", due to American pressure, which had affected the Independence movement badly. He stressed on PM Yousaf Raza Gilani to put his Kashmir policy in action, so that the results should be more conducive for the cause of Kashmiri Independence in its true spirit and norm. End.
