PM Gillani vows to continue struggle for Kashmiris’ right of self-determination

MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani on Wednesday assured Kashmiris that Pakistan would continue its support for resolution of Kashmir conflict according to their desire and their sacrifices would not go in vain.
He stated while addressing joint session of Kashmir Council and AJK Legislative Assembly in Muzaffarabad.
He said that that the new government would continue its Kashmir policy as foundation of PPP was laid down on the basis of Kashmir conflict and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto said that his party would continue its struggle for one thousand years for the right of self-determination of Kashmiris, he opined.
He urged on international community to fulfill its promises and come forward for resolution of Kashmir conflict according to wishes of Kashmiri people.
Commenting on Indo-Pak composite dialogue, he said that his government would continue negotiations with India for result oriented outcome. Lives of 1.30 billion people are linked to Kashmir conflict, he held.
He said that his government would continue the policy of ceasefire that was announced by the previous government with India.
Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service is a good omen between the two countries and new government will promote tourism and trade between the Kashmiris of two sides, he stated.
He said that new entry points would be opened on both sides of Line of Control (LoC) for promotion of trade.
He also underlined the need to stop human rights violation in Kashmir.
He also prayed for quake victims and added that he was in the jail when quake hit in the area in 2005.
He said that his visit was reflection of Kashmiri aspirations and history was evidence of Kashmiri struggle as they showed patience for last sixty years.
“ Kashmir struggle for right of self-determination is according to UN resolutions. Kashmiri are peaceful people and Pakistan is playing its role for world peace and prosperity,” he stated.
He said that he would monitor the rehabilitation and reconstruction work of quake affected areas of Kashmir and NWFP and meeting of ERRA would be held on monthly basis.
He said that he would visit Mirpur to know the problems of Mangla Dam affectees and resolve them on priority basis.
He directed Ministry for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas to resolve the problems of quake and Mangla Dam affectees.
He said that measures would be taken to exploit the water resources of the Kashmir.
He said that the government would give grant Rs 5 million to every member of the assembly for construction work of their respective constituencies.
Meanwhile, addressing to the joint session, AJK Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan said that the process of composite dialogue with India should continue for meaningful result. Peace of South Asia is linked with resolution of Kashmir conflict, he explained,
He said that All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) led by Mir Waiz Umar Farooq was representative body of Kashmiri people.
He lauded the role of NGO for reconstruction and rehabilitation of the quake ravaged areas and expressed satisfaction as no untoward incident took place in the region.
Earlier, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has arrived here on Wednesday on his first official visit to Azad Kashmir.
President Azad Kashmir Raja Zulqarnain Khan, Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, ministers, member of assembly, opposition leaders Sardar Qamar-uz-Zaman and other high officials received the prime minister on his arrival at the helipad at 11:08.
The police presented a guard of honor to Prime Minster and later on he (Gilnai) went to Speaker Assembly Chamber.
