ISLAMABAD: President Pervez Musharraf has once again assured Kashmiri people that Pakistan will not put the Kashmir issue on backburner at any cost and would continue extending moral, political and diplomatic support for the settlement of Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes of Kashmiris.
Talking to Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan via telephone on Kashmir solidarity day, the President added, Kashmir issue remains on the agenda on United Nations as unfulfilled obligations, reported Kashmir Press Information Department.
The Pakistani nation stands in solidarity with their Kashmiri bothers and sisters, as the attachment shown by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah with them (Kashmiris), the President said.
"We have provided an opportunity to India for dialogue by announcing four-point proposal aimed at breaking the decades old deadlock but no positive has still been witnessed by India", Musharraf pointed out.
Kashmiris and Pakistanis are same and their hearts beat together, he said, adding that the abominable line of control cannot separate Kashmiris living on both sides for long.
The President told Prime Minister AJK that Government was engaged in a sincere, sustained and purposeful dialogue with India on Kashmir, added, the flexibility shown by Pakistan speaks that we firmly believe that an enabling environment is necessary for the success of peace process.
In order to maintain the friendly environment, President Pervez Musharraf said, several Kashmiri related confidence-building measures initiated by Pakistan. He assured Pakistan would not leave Kashmiris alone at any phase.
The President said he was much happy by witnessing the enthusiasm of Kashmir people on the eve of Kashmir Solidarity Day in AJK despite snow falling and rains.
The President lauded the services of overseas Kashmiris for highlighting the Kashmiri issues at every International forum.
He assured every cooperation to Kashmir Government for making it base of Kashmir independence movement.
