ISLAMABAD, September 10 (Online): Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Friday said that Pakistan desires peace and stability in restive Iraq.

Talking to the special representative of UN on Iraq Ashraf Jahangir Qazi who called on him at the prime minister house and briefed him on the situation in Iraq, the prime minister said, "we want Iraqi people to rebuild the country."

He expressed the view that if peace and tranquility is restored in Iraq, it would have a very beneficial impact on the whole region.

The prime minister said Pakistan stands for peace in order to secure a better future for the Iraqi people.

The UN representative also apprised the prime minister on the UN role in Iraq.
