LAHORE: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said he was not against people-to-people contact between Pakistan and India.
Talking to media men at the Allama Iqbal International Airport before leaving for Delhi on Thursday, Mirwaiz urged political parties of Pakistan to adopt unanimous policy on Kashmir so that the long-standing issue could be resolved according to the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.
Mirwaiz said he held talks with the new leadership of Pakistan, including Co-chairman Pakistan People`s Party (PPP), Quaid PML-N Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif as well as opposition parties. All of them hold the opinion that Kashmiris must be included in the dialogue between Pakistan and India for the solution of the Kashmir issue.
He asked Pakistan and India to hold talks regarding Kashmir in Muzaffarabad and Srinagar instead of New Delhi and Islamabad. Answering a question, he said the incumbent government was also of the view that Indo-Pak relations could not be improved without solution of the Kashmir issue.
Mirwaiz said his meeting Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif lasted more than two hours. He said the PML-N Quaid assured that Pakistan would not put the Kashmir issue at backburner. He said Nawaz Sharif was willing to visit the Indian Held Kashmir and he assure him warm welcome. He added that Nawaz Sharif was not satisfied with pace of the ongoing peace process.
End.
