Kashmiri Leadership fully supports peace talks between Pakistan, India: Mir Waiz

ISLAMABAD: Leadership from both parts of Kashmir while terming UN resolutions as basis for just and lasting settlement of Kashmir dispute has said they fully support the peace talks between Pakistan and India.
This was said in All Parties Conference held here Friday under All Parties Hurriyat Conference with Mir Waiz Omar Farooq in chair. AJK president Zulqarnain Khan, AJK former president Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan, AJK PPP President Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, secretary general Chaudhry Latif Akbar, opposition leader Sardar Qamar Zaman, Saleem Butt, AJK legislative assembly member from MQM, Aman Ullah, supreme head, Jammu Kashmir liberation front and others attended the conference.
Addressing a joint press conference alongwith AJK president Zulqarnain Khan and AJK former president Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan after the conference, Mir Waiz Umar Farooq told all the political parties of Azad Kashmir and occupied Kashmir have passed a unanimous resolution whereby they have fully supported ongoing peace talks between Pakistan and India in connection with CBMs.
They stressed that the aspirations and sentiments of people of Kashmir be respected while evolving the final solution to Kashmir dispute. The opportunities be provided to the leadership of both parts of Kashmir to meet each other.
Replying to various questions from journalists, Mir Waiz said, " we had invited leadership of all the political parties to attend this conference. Those will be included in coming talks who have not participated in APC.
He maintained that talks have taken place between Pakistan and India in the perspective of CBMs. Success has been achieved only in Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service. Crossing points have been opened on five points. Scope of trade and commerce be further expanded. The leadership lodged in jails be released forthwith. The atrocities being perpetrated by Indian troops in held Kashmir be brought to end and draconian laws and forces act be immediately withdrawn. The human rights issue be raised at international forum. The UN and international community should take notice of these violations. Participation of representatives of Gilgit and Baltistan in the conference is a well come move, he added.
Responding to a question, he said India has acknowledged Kashmir a disputed issue. Had it not been done so, we would have not come to Pakistan. We can not go anywhere in the world without the permission of Indian government. Joint sitting of leadership form both the parts of Kashmir is tantamount to accepting Kashmir a disputed issue.
"We have discussed Kashmir issue at length with the President Musharraf who has assured to play forceful role to secure durable solution to Kashmir problem. We have told that participation of Kashmiris be ensured in the talks process, he added.
