GUJRANWALA: The Pakistani national Aamir Cheema, who was martyred during his imprisonment in a German jail, was buried in his ancestral village of Saroki, Gujranwala on Saturday amidst thousands of mourners.

Thousands of persons from all walks of life and surrounding villages and towns were present when the dead body of the martyred Aamir reached his ancestral village of Saroki Cheema.

There was a good deal of dispute over leading the funeral prayers, as everybody aspired to clinch the honors, hence Aamir’s father was chosen to lead the funeral congregation thus ending the raging dispute.

Aamir’s father, Nazir Cheema voiced in favor of his revered saint, Syed Pir Afzal Shah as the secondary person to lead the funeral prayers. Mr. Nazir wanted Sunni faction leaders to lead the funeral prayers, because the sect believes in chanting slogans of the beloved Holy Prophet (MPBUH). Despite the fact that the exact official time of funeral prayers could not be determined due to this reason, thousands of persons overwhelmingly attended the funeral services, despite blistering heat.

The funeral services occasionally rang out loudly with slogans of various Quranic verses and recitations of martyred student’s praise. Before the funeral prayers leaders of Sunni Party, Mufti Muhammad Ansar ul Qadri, Allama Qari Shahid Chishti, Ahle Sunni Party ’s UK chapter Amir, Syed Munnawar Shah Bukhari, MMA’s Pir Mahfooz Shah Mashadi, Saeed Shah Gujarati, JI’s Professor Munnawar, and Amir Jammat -ul-Daawa Hamza addressed the congregation.

All the speakers paid glowing tributes to martyrdom of Aamir Cheema. Addressing the congregation, Pir Muhammad Afzal Qadri paid glowing tributes to a person who laid his life not for any personal vendetta but rather fell martyr while avenging the Blasphemy, committed against The Holy Prophet (MPBUH). His actions would be sufficient to teach the entire west a lesson about prevalent courage and reverence of Muslims for their Holy Prophet (MPBUH).

The congregation expressed its anger and vexation over the fact that government had tried to keep the funeral time a secret and also restrained thousands of people to attend the funeral.

Aamir Cheema was buried at 1400 hrs in the village graveyard. Gujranwala nazim, Fayyaz Chatta personally visited the house of the deceased to condole with family members. The village was decorated with a festive look, with banners and small decorative flags adorning the entire village. Aamir Cheema was declared as successor to Ghazi Ilimdin Shaheed, who was sentenced to death by the English court for murdering a Blasphemous Hindu, during British Raj days.

Aamir Cheema’s dead body had been brought over from Germany on Saturday morning to Lahore, and was received by the provincial minister Shujah Khanzada, who laid a wreath of flowers on it. The dead body was flown over to Gujranwala Cantt in official helicopter of Punjab government, accompanied about Aamir’s maternal uncles Asmat ullah and Chaudhry Aslam , whence it was received by district liaison officer(DCO) and Corps Commander, Gujranwala.

End.
