There is no denying the fact that late Aamir Cheema laid his life for a cause nothing more than which could be dearer to a Muslim – Namoos-e-Risalat.

He was an Ashiq-e Rasool in the truest sense. However, as reported in the press,  there is a disturbing news about his death that the two FIA high officials sent to Germany to probe into the cause of the death found it to be a case of suicide. Their such finding is corroborated by the German legal authorities as well. This has, unfortunately, come as a shock to many who believe that the suicide is not permitted in Islam.

Would some more knowledgeable in such matters, therefore,  please throw light on the subject whether late Aamir Cheema should be remembered as a Shaheed or not?

Amir Cheema

Look, I feel bad about Mr. Cheema's death andas well for his parents. This is indeed a tragedy. However, to the best of my knowledge, police in Europe, particularly Germany, are not known to beat up/torture to death detainees like they do in India/Pakistan. Also, it must be remembered that Mr. Cheema went to the Die Welt office with a knife, probably with the intent of killing somebody. Whatever for? He was in Germany to study...even if he was angry at the newspaper, is killing/attempting to kill someone the right way to protest? Imagine if he had succeded in killing the editor...wouldn't it have strengthened the views of people who already think muslims are intolerant fanatics and murderers?

sarabjit, Hungary - 19 May, 2006

Aamir Cheema is a shaheed as Tariq Khosa [Additional Director General, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)] said that Aamir Cheema's jugular vein was cut and this caused his death... When FIA officials asked the German gov. to reply to the questions put forth by the FIA the German government simply kept silent and have not replied to the questions as yet... they further stopped the FIA officials to meet those who are the witnesses and are key people as they know how Aamir Cheema was murdered and tortured to death... As for MR SARABJIT, pal would you tell me if Aamir Cheema was really carrying a knife???... Mr SARABJIT let me ask you this... if the German authorities had arrested him only because he was threatening the editor of Die Welt then why the blaze they hid it from the media and never contacted Pakistani embassy to inform them of the incident? The German gov. hid it from the media and never contacted Pakistani embassy as they never had anything against Aamir Cheema save that he was fervently protesting against those who published the cartoons...
