PayPal spokeswoman Jamie Patricio said the new technology center in Scottsdale, Arizona, will support PayPal's existing technology development operations in Silicon Valley and its 3,000-employee customer support center in Omaha, Nebraska.
The company also has customer service operations in Dublin, Ireland. In total, San Jose, California-based online auction company eBay employs more than 11,000 employees world-wide.
