KARACHI: Former prime minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, while announcing formation of Muttahida Muslim League (MML) has said that the prevailing situation of the country demanded reconciliation with political parties including Pakistan People's Party (PPP).

He made the announcement, while addressing a press conference here at Kingri House along with Chief of Pakistan Muslim League Functional (PML-F), Pir Pagaro, after holding one-to-one meeting with him.

Jamali said that it was his first formal meeting with Pir Sahib regarding formation of MML.

Strongly advocating two-party system in the country he pointed out that in many countries of America and Europe there was two-party system.

“Two-party system will also prove beneficial for the county so there should be Muslim League and People Party,” he opined.

However, he said that the Muttahida Majlis-e-Ammal (MMA) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) too had their specific roles in politics of the country.

To a question, Jamali said that his resignation did not make any difference on Chaudhry Shujaat so the formation of a united Muslim league would prove the same for him (Shujaat).

He termed the possibilities of his rejoining PML-Q as out of question.

Mr. Jamali said that he did not see any possibility of elections this year, despite repeated statement by the president, prime minister and Chaudhry brothers reading the ‘election year'.

He was of the view that there was lack of discipline in Pakistani politics.

“When I was prime minister I strove hard to unite the different factions of PML but could not made any head-way in this regard”, he added and said that later on he had to resign from premier ship to save the parliament and let it to complete its tenure.

Jamali said that he was a leaguer by birth and the third generation of his family was in the party so he would struggle for the honor and dignity of the league.

“So my firsts priory and concern is Pakistan and then Muslim League”, he commented.

He rejected the notion that his move to form MML was motivated by General Musharraf.

He said that he had not the backing of General Musharraf in the move and said that he was in PML-Q to date due to General Musharraf.

As the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Muttahida Majlis-e-Ammal were called MQM and MMA respectively, in the same manner the Muttaida Muslim league would be called Muttahida Muslim League (MML), he said.

To a question regarding meditation between Musharraf and Chief Justice by him, he said that he did not deemed himself fit for this task.

To another query either he will vote for the ruling coalition for passage of fiscal budget in assembly or not, he said that he would take any decision to this affect after analyzing the situation at proper time.
