Atiq directs for speedy disbursement of compensation among Mangla Dam affectees

MIRPUR: Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Atiq Ahmad Khan has directed for launching a website for Mangla Dam affectees and swift distribution of compensation among them.
Chairing a meeting here Tuesday he said that the rehabilitation of the affected people must be expedited and steps be taken to address the apprehensions of the Mangla Dam affectees.
The PM AJK directed the reconstruction departments to complete mega projects for the provision of facilities to the masses. He called upon the reconstruction departments to devise revise schemes for the development projects.
"The government will provide funds and the officers responsible for lapse of funds will be terminated," he added.
Sardar Atiq directed the Municipal Corporation to compile a study report on elimination of encroachment in the city and submit it to the government within two months. He said that the constructions be made in line with the building code and lay down pipelines before construction to avoid double expenditure.
AJK Prime Minister said that President Musharraf would lay down mega projects during his visit to Mirpur. The Prime Minister was briefed about the Mangla Dam raising project. He was told that the compensation among the affectees had been launched and Rs. 3 billion and 20 lakh had so far been disbursed among the affected people.
The Prime Minister was informed that a new industrial zone on twenty thousand kanal in Mirpur that would help boost foreign investment. The meeting was told that six new feeders would be established in AJK for the supply of electricity.
The Prime Minister directed for launching pre-paid billing system and timely completion of development projects initiated on foreign funds.
The PM AJK also directed for launching livestock programme and rehabilitation of deserted land. He said that the Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz had given approval of establishment of Mirpur University. He said that the University would be established as per international standard.
