Another Pakistani gets new lease of life in India

NEW DELHI, September 01 (Online): Ali Nawaz, a youth from Pakistan, will never forget his current trip to India. After all, he got a new lease of life here after doctors successfully corrected a hole in his heart.
The 20-year-old, hailing from a poor family living in a village, 300 km away from Islamabad, can breathe again now and live normally and perform activities like others of his age.
Because of the hole in his heart, Nawaz's life had become more than miserable. But he could not afford treatment because of financial constraints. "I couldn't walk properly and had a breathing problem since birth. I would turn blue if I would exert myself," said Nawaz, who became the fifth such person to be treated in India under the 'Gift of Life' project of Rotary Club. Nawaz got operated in Kerala on August 17 and has been "feeling fine" since then.
"Now I don't get tired easily. I feel healthier now," he said with a smile. "We had all lost hope and were very dejected. But today seeing a hale and hearty Nawaz, I feel relieved," said his friend Amir Rasul, expressing his 'gratitude' to India. He was given free cardiac surgery, medicine, food, accommodation, hospitality, boarding and lodging in India. "So far as many as 300 poor children have been saved from congenital heart ailments while about 500 more are waiting for the surgeries," he said.
End.

Going seems to be good |
If only educated Pakistanis could contribute in some way to removing populist support to insurgency against India, in the backward areas of Pakistan. That will be time when I would say that things are really improving.
