162 APDM MNAs, MPAs tender resignations

ISLAMABAD: 162 National and provincial assemblies members of All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) have submitted their resignations on Tuesday. However two MPAs from Balochistan and one from Sindh Assembly took back their resignations.

Members of APDM belonging from NWFP assembly had postponed their resignations after the no confidence move was moved against CM NWFP Akram Khan Durrani.

86 APDM members of National Assembly presented their resignations to Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain.

Tehrik-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan was the first parliamentarian who tendered resignation. After him other APDM leaders submitted their resignations.

Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly, Maulana Fazlur Rehman submitted resignations of MNAs of Majlis-e-Amal to the speaker, while Muslim League-N leader Javed Hashmi presented resignations of the parliamentarians of his party.

Total 86 opposition members tendered their resignations including 62 of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, 20 of Muslim League-N and a member each from Tehrik-e-Insaf, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and JUI Fazl-e-Karim.

The APDM Members in the form of procession reached Parliament House in great numbers and were holding placards and chanting slogans against President Musharraf and Presidential elections amid stringent security measures.

6 Members tendered resignations that includes PML Qs Saira Tariq, MMA’s Hafiz Hussain, 25 belong from Jamaat-e-Islami, 32 from JUI (F), 2 from JUP, one from JUP, 20 from PML (N) and one each from ANP, TI and Pakhtoon Khuwa Milli Awami Party.

The Members of the view that the reason behind their resignations is said to Presidential elections of President Musharraf and his keeping the post as Army Chief of the Country adding that they will not allow a dictator to dictate terms for another five years, besides inflation, law and order situation, poverty, unemployment, corruption and terrorist incidents in the past one year, Lal Masjid Operation, Killing of Maulana Ghazi and Law of Jungle etc.

They strongly condemned the verdict of Supreme Court in which President can contest elections in uniform terming it illegal and unconstitutional.

Meanwhile Speaker NA has accepted the resignations of all the Members of the APDM and later handed over to Secretary NA for further action.

The MNAs who submitted their resignations  included Opposition leader Maulana Fazal ur Rehman, Parliamentary Leader Liaqat Baloch, Abdul Ghafoor Haidri, Sahibzada Zubair, Hakeem Qari Gull Gull Rehman, Sabir Hussain Awan, Rehmat Ullah Khalil, Maulana Gohar Shah, Farid Paracha, Maulana M khan, Khawanzada M sadiq, Maulana Gohar, Maulana Qasim, Maulana Atta ur Rehman, M Osman advocate, Mufti Abrar Sultan, Maulana Shah Abdul Aziz, Maulana Asadullah, Maulana Ahmed Ghafoor, Qari Yousaf, Maulana Hakeem, Ziyad Akram Durrani, Abdul Sadiqui, Fazal Subhan, Abdul Akbal Chitrali, Maulana Asadullah, Maulvi Noor, Mian Aslam, Qazi Hameed Ullah, Hafiz Salman Butt, Maulana Atta ur Rehman, Liaq Khan, M Hussain Mukhti, Maulvi Noor, Maulvi Ghulam Sadiq, Maulana Naik Zaman, Maulana Miraj Uddin, Pervaiz Masih, Ayesha Munawar, Dr Farida Ahmed, Samia Raheel, Farhana Khalid, Shahid Akhtar Ali, Jamila Ahmed, Razia Aziz, Ambreen Naeem, Anayat Begum, Baliqis Saif, Nayar Sultana, Imrana Khawar and Asia Nasir.

20 Members of PML (N) include Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Abid Sher Ali, Sardar Iyaz Sadiq, Ishrat Ashraf, Kirshen Bhel, Mehmoona Hashmi, Asad Khan, Khawaja Asif, Sahibzada Fazal ur Rehman, Javed Hashmi, Pervaiz Malik, sardar Yaqoob Nasir, Raja Nadir Pervaiz, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Tehmina Daultana, besides Ali Hasan Gillani, Akhtar Kanjo, Bilal Vark, and Shahzadi Umer Zadi Tuwana.

In Lahore: Similarly at least forty six legislators of All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) of Punjab Assembly submitted their resignations to Secretary Punjab Assembly.

The members are from Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), Muttahidda Majlis-e-Amal, PML-Q.

Rana Sana-ul-Allah, Raja Muhammad Ali, Raja Arshad Mehmood, Chaudhry Mehmood Ayyaz, Malik Abrar Ahmed, Sheikh Tanveer Ahmed, Mehar Rab Nawaz Malik, Muhammad Nawaz Malik, Sheikh Ijaz Ahmed, Imran Ashraf, Asad Ashraf, Bilal Yaseen, Muhammad Aja Sam Sharif, Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Rana Shuja-ur-Rehman, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Mehar Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan, Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor Khan, Muhammad Afzal, Afzal Sultan Dogar, Chaudhry Sajjad Haider Gujar, Mian Yawar Zaman, Babu Nafees Ahmed Ansari, Nazir Ahmed Mitto, Mehar Ijaz, Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar, Chaudhry Muhammad Shafique Anwar, Pervaiz Mehmood Bhatti, Afshan Farooq, Khalida Mansoor, Nighat Perveen Mir, Shahnaz Saleem, Abida Joya, Joail Aamar Sohatra and Kamran Michel are from PML-N whereas  Chaudhry Azhar Nadeem Gujar, Khalid Kalyar, Akram Gujar, Rab Nawaz Lak and Layla Muqadas are from PML-Q and Asghar Ali Gujar, Syed Ahsan-ul-Allah Waqas, Muhammad Waqas, Arshad Mehmood Bagu, Chaudhry Shaukat Ali,  Dr Wasim Akhtar, Zaib-un-Nisa Qureshi and Tahira Munir are from MMA.

Earlier, a procession of APDM, led by Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa and Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, started from Punjab Assembly Press Club and culminated at Punjab Assembly.

In Karachi: At least seven legislators of All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) submitted resignations with Speaker Sindh Assembly Muzaffar Hussain Shah on Tuesday.

Parliamentary leader of MMA, Maulana Muhammad Omar Sadiq, Deputy Parliamentary Leader Nasrullah Shaji, Hamidullah Khan, Hafiz Mohammad Naeem, Younis Baria, Ahsanullah Hazarwi, Kalsoom Nazamani and Abdul Rehman Rajput submitted their resignations with the speaker. 

However Abdul Rehman Rajput later withdrew his resignation and joined hands with PML-Q.

The resignations of Maulana Muhammad Omar Sadiq, Nasrullah Shaji, Hamidullah Khan were accepted by the speaker. However the Resignations of Hafiz Mohammad Naeem, Younis Baria, Ahsanullah Hazarwi, Kalsoom Nazamani were not accepted as they did not appear personally. Speaker Muzaffar Hussain Shah said that he would accept their resignations when they attach an authority letter with it.

In Quetta: At least twenty-five members of Balochistan Assembly submitted their resignations to the speaker of assembly.

Sixteen members of MMA, four members of Pakhtoon Khawa Milli Awami Party and four members of National Party have submitted their resignations.

Earlier, members of APDM gathered at MPA hostel and reached in the assembly to submit their resignations.

It is pertinent to note that the assembly consists of sixty-five members but now it has sixty two members as two MPAs of Naseem Taryal and Asif Ahmed-ul-Allah have been disqualified by the court while Nawab Zada Mir Balach had expired.
