Woman, four minors injured as mortar hits house

KHOST/HERAT: A woman and four minors were injured when a mortar round allegedly fired by the armed opponents hit a house in Zerok district in Paktika province Sunday.
The mortar round fired by the armed opponents to target security forces landed in a house in Sari Maidan area in Zerok district, the Paktika Governor's spokesman Mokhlis Afghan said.
The injured were taken to an ISAF health facility where they were stated to be in stable condition.
The armed opponents wanted to target security forces in the area, he said.
The armed opponents have not said anything in this regard till filling of this report.
Meanwhile, a cop was killed and another injured while one more was captured by the armed opponents in separate incidents in Herat province, officials said Sunday.
Armed motorcyclists hurled hand-grenades at the 10th security zone in Herat city last night, injuring a policeman, the western zone police spokesman Abdul Rauf Ahmadi told media.
In a separate incident, the Taliban killed a cop in Changan area in Shindand district yesterday and fled the scene.
Meanwhile, a security official said the armed opponents captured a civil order policeman in Gulran district yesterday.
Efforts are underway to seek his safe and early release, he added.
No one has claimed responsibility for his abduction till filling of this report.
