Suggestions for promotion of transport links between SAARC countries finalised

ISLAMABAD: Recommendations and suggestions regarding promotion of transport links between SAARC countries has been finalised and will be presented in SAARC leadership Conference in the month of April. In this regard, the concluding ceremony of three-day conference of experts transport of member SAARC Countries was held here on Thursday under the leadership of Federal Secretary Tariq Mehmood of Ministry of Communication . Federal Secretaries Communication/Transport of India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives participated in the all-important meeting. The respected Secretaries stressed the need for extending communication links between SAARC countries including road, rail, air and sea. While addressing in the concluding ceremony, Federal Secretary Communication Tariq Mehmood was of the view that the conference will be valuable for all the SAARC participants that are taking part in the conference. He underlined that Pakistan is paying special attention towards its highway network and other links in this regard. Other SAARC participants also shared their views in view of promotion of transport contacts between each other. They focused on the need that until and unless communication links are not expanded, trade activities cannot be increased.
