ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to the SAARC process and outlined his vision for peace and prosperity in South Asia which was based on the economic revival of the region.

He was talking to Secretary General (SAARC) Arjun Bahadur Thapa in Islamabad.

The Prime Minister said he would like to see SAARC develop into a vibrant regional organization along the lines of the EU, GCC and ASEAN and focus on economic regional integration, energy cooperation and connectivity.

On the occassion, Thapa appreciated the Prime Minister's vision for SAARC and South Asia at large. He briefed Prime Minister Sharif on the upcoming 18th SAARC Summit scheduled to take place in November 2014 in Kathmandu, Nepal.

He said that the Prime Minister's views about regional connectivity and economic integration would be invaluable in tailoring the Summit's agenda.

During his stay in Islamabad, the Secretary General also called on Advisor to the Prime Minister on National Security & Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz.
