ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Thursday called on President Gen Pervez Musharraf at the presidential camp office and briefed him on his meetings with Indian Prime Minster Manmohan Singh and Afghan president Hamid Karzai at the sidelines of the SAARC summit.

According to sources Prime Minister termed his meetings with SAARC countries leaders especially with Indian President Abdul kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as constructive and positive and said that India also wishes to move the peace process along and wants to make it result oriented.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said both countries would expedite the work to complete the Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gas pipeline project. Aziz said the IPI gas pipeline project would help Pakistan and India meet their requirements.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz took the President into confidence regarding his one to one meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and said Hamid Karzai was agreed to remove the differences and misperceptions by promoting high-level contracts.

He also briefed the President about his meeting with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Chief Advisor of Bangladesh Fakhar-u-Din Ahmad, others leaders and decision taken in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

President General Pervez Musharraf lauded the decisions made in the SAARC and underlined the need of joint efforts and work for prosperity, peace and development in South Asia.

President General Musharraf extended congratulation to Afghan President Hamid Karzai for admitting 8th member of SAARC. He welcomed the move to accord observe status to Iran.

The President made it clear that Pakistan wants solution of all dispute including Jammu and Kashmir with India through peace and negotiations. Peace cannot be possible in South Asia without resolution of disputes, he added.

President General Pervez Musharraf also lauded the decisions made during Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Afghan President Hamid Karzai meeting, stable and develop Afghanistan is in the best interest of Pakistan.

According to the sources, both leaders discussed the overall political and law and order situation of the country.

Both expressed satisfaction over the operation launched by tribal Lashkar against foreign militants in localities South Waziristan and declared it big achievement of agreement, sources added.

President General Pervez Mushraff and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz also discussed the issue of Jamia Hafsa and expressed grave concern that some elements are using students for their own purposes.

Both warned those elements that are challenging the writ of government to avoid take the law in their hand, sources maintained.
