KARACHI, March 04 (Online): A Karachi judicial magistrate on Thursday gave into police custody on remand till March 7 Muhammad Sohail alias Habib who is suspected of bombing a bus of French engineers outside Karachi Sheraton hotel in 2002.
The suspect was produced in the court amidst tight security by police and security agencies.
Police arrested Sohail in an encounter near Maripur on Wednesday, however his five associates escaped.
Sohail was nominated in the case of bus bombing that claimed lives of 11 Frenchmen.
In June 2002, an anti-terrorism court declared him an absconder and sentenced him to death in the case.
Muhammad Fayyaz, a Central Investigation Department officer, said the suspected terrorism had admitted he was involved in Daniel Pearl murder case and an assassination attempt on the life of President General Pervez Musharraf.
