ISLAMABAD: The blockade of Lebanon must be ended so that relief and reconstruction activity can move ahead expeditiously said Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz while talking to Ch. Shujaat Hussain President PML and Ch. Pervez Elahi Chief Minister of Punjab at the Prime Minister’s House on Tuesday.
The two leaders appreciated the Prime Minister’s visit to Beirut to express solidarity with the Lebanese people in this difficult and challenging time.
The Prime Minister said that he expressed solidarity with the people of Lebanon on behalf of the people of Pakistan and said we will be always side by side with them. He said Pakistan has already sent four C-130 planes of food and medicine and two more C-130 planes carrying relief goods will be sent for the affected people of Lebanon.
Ch. Shujaat Hussain and Ch. Pervez Elahi congratulated the Prime Minister for successful defeat of no confidence motion. They said that PML is aggressively pursuing its enrolment programme as well as celebrating 100th anniversary of Pakistan Muslim League. They said that the PML is working for the welfare of the people and to provide them better living standards, and this is in the best interest of the people of Pakistan.
The Prime Minister also updated the PML leaders about the OIC Youth Conference in Istanbul where he highlighted the need for mobilizing Youth and to channelise their energies towards productive causes.
The Prime Minister said that youth is our future and we have to invest in their education, well being as well as creation of employment opportunities for them. He said that launching of Rozegar Scheme by the President today is a step in that direction.
The meeting also discussed various organizational matters of PML as well as the status of Women Protection Bill, which is now in the National Assembly for approval. The Prime Minister said all legislation will be made in lines with the Quraan and Sunnah and said the passing of Women Protection Bill will enable the women in Pakistan to play their constructive and useful role in the society.
