ISLAMABAD: President General Pervez Musharraf has urged International Community to solve issue of Kashmir, Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan in accordance with basic principle of justice.

Talking to Foreign Minister of Malta Dr. Michael Frendo here in Awan-e-Saddar on Thursday, the President said Pakistan wants peace in the world adding that Pakistan is playing its due role in this respect.

Reiterating Pakistan stance, he added, we cannot allow extremism and terrorism in the country and are countering them through a comprehensive strategy. The President assured that Pakistan would continue its cooperation along with International Community in war against terrorism.

On fighting extremism, the president said it has to be addressed through a combination of short and long-term measures.

About Pakistan-India relations, the president said the two countries are engaged in a peace process and moving on a dual track of boosting confidence and resolving root causes of conflicts between the two countries.

The resolution of the lingering Kashmir dispute is imperative for establishing lasting peace in South Asia," he underlined. Pakistan, he declared, is committed to bringing peace in the region but without compromising on its sovereignty.

Expressing his views over Afghanistan, President General Pervez Musharraf made it clear Pakistan is playing its role for peace and tranquility in Afghanistan adding that fence had been erected at Pak-Afghan border to stop illegal cross border movement.

Both also discussed matters of mutual interest. The President and Foreign Minister of Malta reviewed bilateral ties with a view to strengthening relations between Pakistan and Malta in all spheres, especially trade and investment.

Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri were present during the meeting.
