ISLAMABAD: PML-N has described President Musharraf book A line on the fire?, a pack of lies and full of contradictions adding it is an attempt to convert falsehood into truth.
This was said by PML-N information secretary Ahsan Iqbal while unveiling fact sheet here Tuesday in central secretariat of the party. PML-N leader Babar Awan was also present on the occasion.
Ahsan Iqbal underlined that General Musharraf has overstepped his constitutional and legal obligations by authoring this book. He undertook lavish visit by dint of hard earned money of poor masses to promote his book and please his foreign masters.
Citing to contents of book, Ahsan pointed out that what ironical it was that it was mentioned in this book that every institution was corrupt, failed and shirker barring him and his government seven year and only general Musharraf is honest, patriotic and competent person.
In the book, he observed every lie was converted into truth. A separate fact sheet will be released on Musharraf robust economy claims.
He went on to say that general Musharraf could not conceal the truth even after lying. General Musharraf is of view that Kargil incident widened gulf of differences between him and the then prime minister. Had General Musharraf taken the then prime minister into the confidence on Kargil episode , he questioned.
Nawaz Sharif has already said in categorical terms that he was not taken into confidence ahead of Kargil operation. This operation was carried out without taking the political leadership into confidence, he added.
On the other hand Gen Musharraf claimed that Nawaz Sharif was taken into confidence in Keel.
Prime Minister was given briefing on March, 12, 1999 in directorate general ISI. He was also briefed on May, 17, June 2 and 22. The briefing given in Keel to the Prime Minister focused on Keel road which was constructed at the cost of Rs 11 billion.
Briefing on critical issues like Kargil war in not given in tents and rather it is given in headquarters. One briefing related to tourism. The briefing took place on March, 12 in general headquarters pertained to internal affairs of Kashmir.
General Musharraf acknowledges that DG military operation had briefed the Prime Minister in May. The whole details was not provided in the briefing. As per General Musharraf book Kargil issue had stared in January, 1999 and about 2000 soldiers were deployed in Krgil, First skirmish between the army of two countries on May.
Musharraf has talked about defence pact in his book despite the fact he had captured a lot of areas of India. The complete military map about this operation was presented on July, 2. It was claimed on July 2 that India can not push back us from any position. We lost control of tiger.
General Musharrf had provided wrong information and misled to the defence committee. This is a charge sheet against general Musharraf General Musharraf has claimed that chiefs of Navy and air force were kept ignorant.
What fate Pakistan would have met had a naval or air offensive been launched against the country. Ahsan Iqbal said Nawaz Sharif did not give in to pressure in May, 1998. It is sheer lie what Musharraf had said that Nawaz Sharif could not face the international pressure and Pakistan had become isolated due to this operation.
General Musharraf had said that our nuclear program had no capability to launching any attack, he pointed out.
This statement falls in the ambit of treason and court martial. It is bare lie that Nawaz Sharif had called me from Murree to Islamabad airport to stop Kargil war despite the fact that our soldiers were being martyred in Kargil.
End.
