ISLAMABAD: PML-N Secretary Information Ahsan Iqbal Wednesday condemned the revelation of nuclear secrets by Gen Musharraf in his book ’In The Line of Fire’ saying that Gen Musharraf has crossed all moral and legal limits in the book.
In the statement issued here Wednesday, he said that Gen Musharraf writes in his book on page 97-98 that Pakistan atomic power was not so developed in 1999 that Pakistan could use it across the border.
The PML-N leader regretted that head of any state can not even think of issuing such statements about his country. "Gen Musharraf has proved himself an incompetent ruler", he added.
He further said that Musharraf’s claim that Indian citizens worked for Dr. Abdul Qadir Khan is highly ridiculous. "Gen Musharraf has maligned our national hero that is highly condemnable", he added.
He underlined that government legislators are favouring Musharraf’s book without even studying it. "They should study before defending it", he said.
Meanwhile, MMA president Qazi Hussain Ahmad said President Musharraf should not have written his book in the capacity of army chief and president as he had become king`s evidence against Dr Qadeer Khan by authoring this book.
He said this while talking to the journalists here Wednesday on the occasion of 3rd death anniversary of late Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan.
It is betrayal with the blood of martyrs what he had expressed about Kashmir, nuclear program and Dr A Q Khan in the book, he said adding it is all against the national stance. People of Pakistan are fully agreed over it that Kashmir issue be resolved as per UN resolutions, he added.
What stance General Musharraf had pleaded in the book is betrayal with the martyrs of Kashmir freedom movement?
Responding to a question, he said MMA was not hindrance on the way to formation of grand opposition alliance. A major movement is need of the hour. Opposition is left with no other option than a mammoth campaign, he stressed.
Qazi Hussain Ahmad reiterated MMA would continue to play its role in national politics. Opposition parties are agreed on certain issues although grand alliance has not been evolved till now, he added.
