KABUL: Afghanistan and India are expected to sign four agreements, including one in the mining sector, during President Hamid Karzai’s visit to New Delhi, a diplomat said.

During his four-day trip, beginning from November 9, Karzai and Indian leaders will also ponder over a greater role for New Delhi in training Afghan security forces.

The Afghan ambassador to India told reporters in New Delhi that Karzai would meet representatives of the business community in Mumbai and seek investment in his country.

Shaida Mohammad Abdali said Karzai’s trip was coming at "a critical time" as international combat troops prepared to pull out of Afghanistan by the end of 2014.

According to the Press Trust of India, Karzai will deliver the annual Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad annual lecture on November 11. A day later, he will hold talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on regional security and the safety of Indian citizens in Afghanistan.

Abdali indicated the visiting delegation would try to intensify the India-Afghanistan strategic dialogue on bilateral and regional issues.

End.
