India proposes August 4-8 for talks on Kishanganga dam issue

ISLAMABAD, July 16 (Online): India has formally invited Pakistan to hold talks on controversial Kishanganga dam issue in New Delhi from August 4-8, Foreign Office Spokesman Jalil Abbas Jilani told reporters on Friday.
He said Indus Water Commission was reviewing India's new call for talks on the issue of Kishanganga dam after which it would take final decision in this regard.
Jilani noted that Pakistan earlier fixed July 11-14 for to settle Kishanganga dam issue.
Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry sources told Online that Pakistan earlier clarified to India that like Baglihar dam issue, it (Pakistan) would take the Kishanganga dam issue to World Bank if it would not be resolved up till July 15.
They said that Pakistan would respond to India's new call for talks on Kishanganga dam issue in proper time.
Sources further said that construction of Kishanganga dam in occupied Kashmir by India will affect 990 MW Neelum-Jehlum Hydropower project.
Pakistan and India have held 10 to 11 rounds to resolve controversial Kishanganga dam issue up till now but in vain.
Pakistan has reservations over the design of Kishanganga dam.
