India lose to Australia in under-18 hockey final

SINGAPORE: India went down 1-2 to Australia in the men`s final of the under-18 Singapore International Hockey Challenge here .
The teams were locked goalless at halftime in Monday`s clash. Mirza Mohammed Ather scored for India in the 42nd minute through a penalty corner. The lead was short-lived as Jacob James Burns fired in the equaliser 45 seconds later through a field goal .
The Indians softened in the final minute of the game and conceded a field goal. Matt Daniels Gohdes scored just seconds before the hooter .
Earlier, Pakistan defeated host Singapore 4-1 to clinch third place .
In the women`s competition, Australia beat Malaysia 2-0 .
