Hockey Champions Trophy: Pakistan beats Spain 2-0

KUALALUMPUR: Pakistan has bagged three valuable points by defeating Spain 2-0 in the 29th Hockey Champions Trophy tournament being played in the Malaysian here.
The national team kept Spain under severe pressure from the very beginning when the Pakistani forwards got some certain chances for netting the ball into the goal, which to their misfortune could not avail of and the first half ended in a draw, as neither of the teams could make a score.
However, Pakistan’s persistent onslaught paid dividends in the second half at the 54th minute, as Waqas Sharif scored the first goal giving Pakistan an edge over the rivals, which Akhtar Ali in the 61st minute of the game further consolidated by scoring the second goal and the game ended on this tally.
Following this victory, Pakistan has got to its credit three points in its two matches of the tournament, while the Spain has only one point after two matches.
