GWADAR: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that Gwadar Port which would soon be operational was bound to transform the economic milieu of the region.

While addressing the inaugural of the Golden Palms desalination plant, he said that there would be unprecedented development in the region and chided the elements who were harping the theme of “outsiders' occupation”.

While inaugurating the first desalination plant in the newly established Port City, he said that providing drinkable water would be the first priority of the government, on which billions would be spent.

The desalination plant which cost billions, has been developed by private sector and is purifying a quarter of million gallons per day (0.25 million MGD), would be beneficial for a large part of local population besides catering to all the projects of the Hashoo Group, which include Pearl Continental Hotel and Golden Palms Hotel.

The quality of the water has been tested by the highly technically reputed organization, Agha Khan University Hospital, has been deemed to be of highest and purest consumable quality, and public circles of the region have lauded the Hashoo group for their selfless services and facilities.

While addressing the event PM said that it was a totally unexpected Phenomenon that Federal Cabinet had held their meeting in the Port City, next to the Capitol city of Islamabad, and said that 7000 jobs had been provided in the Balochistan Province.

He also lauded the Hashoo group for establishing a hotel in the Port City and a housing Society besides many other Mega projects.

While addressing the occasion chairman Hashoo group Sadaruddin Hashwani lauded the establishment of the Port City of Gwadar for economic development of the region, and stated the fact that a five star hotel had been established by the group and announced that electricity imported from Iran would also be available for the region.
