ISLAMABAD: President General Pervez Musharraf has said Pak-Afghan grand Jirga is beneficial in the perspective of bilateral relations between the two countries adding it will help remove misperceptions and mistrust between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

He said this while talking to the journalists on his arrival from Kabul after attending Pak-Afghan grand Jirga on Sunday.

President told he had addressed Pak-Afghan joint Jirga. Joint declaration is very beneficial. The foremost benefit was that contacts were made between 350 people from Pakistan and 350 Afghan people. This contact is conducive, as it will help remove misgivings in terms of Pak-Afghan relations. This joint Jirga is not last.

It is resolved in joint declaration that a committee comprising 50 people be set up, he said adding this committee should start dialogue. These dialogue should be started with rival party. Basically Taliban are fighting. There are some Non-Taliban elements with Taliban. On the other side Afghan government and coalition forces were fighting The matter will not be resolved unless we enter into dialogue with them. Therefore, I have said Jirga itself is not last and final”, he underlined.
