Global assistance not upto Pakistan expectations: Zardari

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has said bulks of extremists have been eliminated during Malakand operation and remnants are on the run adding the security forces are hunting down the remaining militants.
He said this during his meeting with US ambassador in Pakistan Anne W Patterson in Aiwan-e-Sadr Tuesday.
President Asif Ali Zardari hosted lunch for the US ambassador, said presidential spokesperson Farhat Ullah Babar here Tuesday. Both of them exchanged views on a set of issues including restoration of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), war on terror and matters of mutual interest, he added.
Aiwan-e-Sadr sources told our sources during the meeting president Asif Ali Zardari stressed Pakistan wanted colossal global assistance for restoration of IDPs as reconstruction work was required in the whole division. Government was placing special focus on the restoration of IDPs despite its limited resources, president underlined.
“Global assistance is not upto our expectations so that we may defeat the terrorists in better way”, he held. US and international community should play pivotal role in connection with restoration of IDPs and reconstruction of affected areas, he stressed.
People and army had rendered unprecedented sacrifices in war against terrorism and for peace and security in the region, he underscored.
Pakistan was playing front line role in war on terror, he said adding the forces demanding do more should know it well Pakistan was taking steps with sincerity.
