Cuba for strong relations with Pakistan, seeks Int`l help to end US blockade

ISLAMABAD: Cuba attaches great importance to its relations with Pakistan and wants to consolidate these relations.
These views were expressed by the Cuban ambassador to Pakistan, Gustavo Machin Gomez while addressing a press conference in a local hotel here Wednesday.
Cuban ambassador said that both the countries have diplomatic relations for the last six months and we want to improve these relations in all fields, he added.
The ambassador on the occasion has urged Pakistan and the international community to play its role to put an end to its financial, commercial and economic blockade imposed by the United States for the last 47 years and support the draft resolution to be submitted on November 8th to UN General Assembly.
He said that 118 countries in recently concluded Havana Conference demanded to end American blockade and we are hopeful that the international community would help the resolution titled: Need to put an end to the financial, commercial and economic blockage imposed by the Untied States against Cuba".
Gustavo Machin Gomez said that the direct damage caused to the Cuban people due to the blockade application is over 86 billion and US during the last year has increased at unprecedented levels, the aggressiveness and hostility against Cuba, he added.
Terming American occupation on Guantanamo Bay illegal, the ambassador said that the US had occupied Guantanamo Bay in 1982 and Cuban people want end to US occupation on its territory.
