CJ Iftikhar orders redressal of prisoners' grievences

MIANWALI: Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry Sunday visited Central Jail, Mianwali, and listened to the grievances of prisoners.
He heard the problems of prisoners and issued at the spot directions to redress the grievances. Iftikhar Chaudhry ordered release of five prisoners facing confinement due to non-payment of diyat and arsh Rs 109,800 the jail authorities paid the amount and prisoners were released forthwith.
Moreover, the CJP also ordered release of other six prisoners within a week confined in jail due to non-payment of arsh and diyat amount. The chief secretary Punjab assured to pay amount for release of six prisoners within a week.
Justice Iftikhar also visited the jail building including kitchen, hospital, juvenile and women prisoners' portion and prisoners wards.
