PESHAWAR: At least nine people were killed on Wednesday after unidentified armed men attacked the house of a policeman located on the outskirts of Peshawar, sources reported.
In the Budhbher area of the city, unknown militants entered a house and launched an attack by opening fire and hurling hand grenades.
As a result at least nine people lost their lives in the assault.
The incident took place just after 1:00 am, when armed men barged in a house of a policeman named Zafar, who was killed last Sunday, and after locking women of the family inside rooms, opened fire on men.
Furthermore, the unknown attackers hurled two hand grenades at the house.
As per Edhi sources, the dead bodies were shifted to Khyber Teaching Hospital.
Also, the unidentified attackers managed to escape from the spot after an encounter with police.
The attack appeared to be a result of religious rivalry between two extremist organisations based in Khyber Agency.
Also, after the incident, police started a search operation in the area.
