16 October, 2014
PESHAWAR: A bomb blast in the Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency on Wednesday left at least five people dead and seven injured, security and political administration officials said.
Tirah Valley is one of the most inaccessible areas of Khyber and details about the Wednesday's happening were sketchy. The officials believed the blast might have been a suicide attack taking place in Pir Mela area of Tirah valley.
"It targeted a meeting of tribal volunteers assembled to devise plans for keeping their areas safe from Taliban," said the officials who spoke on condition of anonymity. The killed volunteers hailed from the Zalakhel tribe which opposes the Taliban in the valley. Khyber region is a hotbed of militancy.
End.
