ISLAMABAD: Yaumul Quds (International Day of Quds) was observed on Jummatul Wida (Friday), with religious zeal and fervour in the twin cities in an expression of solidarity with the people of Palestine and condemn the ongoing massacre of innocent Palestinians in Gaza at the hand of Israeli forces.

This day is observed to express support and solidarity with the oppressed Muslims of Palestine, who have been divested of the first Qibla, Baitul Maqdis. The last Friday of Ramazan is marked annually as Yaumul Quds to oppose Israel's illegal occupation and annexation of the holy city of Jerusalem and express resolve to wrest it from the possession of the Jewish state. People from all walks of life protested against Israeli aggression in Gaza.

On this occasion, huge congregations, protest rallies, demonstrations and meetings were also held in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.The largest congregation of Jummatul Wida was witnessed in Faisal Masjid, Shia Ulema Council Imambargah G6, Ahel Sunnat Wal Jamaat Lal Masjid, Masjid Khulafa-e-Rashedeen, Majlis Wahadatul Muslemain G-9, PTI rally at Aabpara Chowk and in Rawalpindi Jamaat-e-Islami rally at Liaquat Bagh where thousands of peoples from different walks of life attended the protest. Muslims of the entire world including those of Pakistan observed the Youmul Quds against Israeli occupation of Palestine and Jerusalem.

Addressing these gatherings, scholars and other speakers made it clear that Al-Quds Ash-Sharif is respected not only in Islam but by the whole humanity. Participants of the rallies were holding placards and banners inscribed with different slogans like "struggle will continue till the liberation of Palestine and Kashmir". They were also carrying banners and placards inscribed with different slogans in favour of Al-Quds Al-Sharif, and against what they termed was Zionist-Hindu conspiracy. Ulema and religious leaders urged greater Muslim unity and called for launching a joint struggle for the emancipation of the Muslim world. They emphasised the importance of maintaining unity and sectarian harmony, asking people to beware of miscreants and anti-state elements who want to create animosity and hatred among followers of different schools of thought.

In Rawalpindi, Islamabad the rallies were taken out to mark the day under arrangements of TNFJ's district Yaumul Quds Himayat-e-Mazlumin committee. Allama Ejaz Askari, Allama Syed Hamid Ali Moosvi, Abdul-Rehman Mavia and other leaders addressed the rallies. Faithful from twin cities prayed for the security and solidarity of the country and for the glory of Islam and enforcement of Islamic order in the country on Jummatul Wida. This day is observed to express support and solidarity with the oppressed Muslims of Palestine.
