Saudi FM arrives on two-day visit to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Saud Al-Faisal was accorded a warm welcome when he arrived here on Monday on a two-day official visit to Pakistan for holding bilateral talks with the Pakistani leadership.

He was received at the Noor Khan Airbase by Adviser to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Abdul Aziz Ibrahim Al-Ghadeer and other high ranking officials from the Foreign Office.

The Saudi foreign minister is visiting Pakistan on the invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who invited him during a meeting on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly session in New York in September last year.

According to Foreign Office, this is normal interaction between the two counties and the Saudi Foreign Minister will meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and hold formal talks with Advisor to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz. The Foreign Minister will discuss bilateral relations and to further expanding Pak-Saudi ties and enhancing cooperation in various fields. Besides bilateral matters, Saudi Foreign Minister will also discuss Afghanistan and regional situation including post-foreign troops' withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan enjoy a very close relationship and this would be the first high level visit from Saudi Arabia after the new government led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Pakistan.
