LAHORE: A Special Court in Lahore on Monday extended the judicial remand of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab President and former Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah in a narcotics case till August 9.

As the hearing began, Sanaullah’s counsel argued that his client has been entangled in the case on the political basis. He further argued with the court to allow Sanaullah home-cooked food in the jail as he has been suffering from heart ailment and has already gone through an open heart surgery. To this, the judge stated that the ruling in the case will be given according to the constitution.

Regarding the matter of home-cooked food, the court asked the counsel to file a detailed application which will be considered after a response from the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF). During the hearing, the ANF Lahore team submitted a 60-page challan in the court. The court has sought details at the next hearing.

Ahead of the hearing, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and former MNA Talal Chaudhary met Rana Sanaullah. Talking to reporters later, Shehbaz said the truth will triumph. He said he has been repeatedly stopped by the jail authorities from meeting Rana Sanaullah.
