Puppet regime promoting immorality in IHK: Gilani
20 November, 2012
Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has said that the puppet administration led by National Conference is promoting immorality in the territory.
Addressing a seminar in Srinagar on the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) Syed Ali Gilani said that the National Conference and Congress had crushed the identity of Kashmir and its people by promoting liquor and other obscene things in the name of development. "Irony is that the Finance Minister (Abdul Rahim Rather) has stated that liquor is a Rs 20 crore revenue generating avenue in Kashmir. This is the statement of a minister of a government that claims of upholding the religious identity of Kashmir," he deplored.
On the issue of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), the veteran leader said that it was the NC President, Farooq Abdullah, who constituted SASB in 2002. "There was no need for a board. The Amarnath yatra has been going on for past 150 years. It was being managed by the local Kashmiri Pandits but suddenly a board came into existence," he said, adding, "We want the dissolution of the SASB. We are in touch with the cross section of society on this issue."
Syed Ali Gilani pointed out that the NC founder, Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah had sold 896 kanals of land at Bijbehara to the Indian Army. "We have come to know that the land has not been leased but sold out to Army by Sheikh in 1980," he said.
Gilani also urged people to pray for Hurriyet leader, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, who is not keeping well. He asked the people to follow the teachings of Imam Husain (RA), who preferred to spill his blood instead of surrender in the Karbala.
Noted religious leader, Khursheed Ahmad Qanungoo, while paying tributes to the martyrs of Karbala said that Kashmiris should take inspiration from these martyrs to fight against a big power like India.
End.
