ISLAMABAD: President General Pervez Musharraf has stressed on a just and immediate solution to the Palestine issue, mandatory for a conducive peace in the Middle East region.

While exchanging views with like-minded foreign ministers of the Islamic World, he said that keeping in view the problems and challenges facing the Ummah, the Muslim world would have to forge a cohesive and harmonious relationship between itself.

The meeting included such luminaries as OIC secretary general, Akmaluddin Ihsanoglu, and Pakistani foreign minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri, and focused on the discussion about the latest issues of Palestine and Iraq, besides the urgent matter of Iran's nuclear programme.

President Musharraf was briefed about the joint declaration of the participants, upon which President Musharraf expressed his satisfaction, and assurance that it would be quite helpful in pushing the Middle East agenda further ahead.

President Musharraf greatly wished for the participation of abstaining countries of Syria, Iran, and Lebanon, and said that consensus with these countries were being carried out, since they have proved to be quite receptive about my ideas and suggestions.

President Musharraf termed the immediate and just implementation of Palestinian solution, and stressed on a cohesive and concerted effort by the Palestinian leadership, lauding the recently convened Makkah accord, and its chief sponsor, King Shah Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.

President Musharraf also expressed his worry and concern over the worsening situation of Lebanon and Iraq, and stressed on immediate conducive resolutions and redressing of their crisis.

President Musharraf also hosted a dinner in the honor of the visiting foreign ministers.
