SARGODHA: Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt said on Sunday that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is fully prepared for an operation against the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

The Pakistan Air Force on Sunday inducted the first batch of multi-role air defence capable F16 fighter aircraft, purchased from the Royal Jordanian Air Force, into its fleet at the Mushaf Airbase. Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt was the chief guest at the arrival ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Butt said that the PAF was fully capable to meet any internal or external challenges. Expressing his pleasure over induction of the first batch of F16 aircraft into the PAF, he said the government and three services acknowledged the importance of air power for today's modern warfare.

Butt said that Jordan was a brotherly and friendly country, which provided these aircraft on a very nominal cost. Responding to a question, he said PAF always delivered 100 percent striking power with precision and accuracy to avoid collateral damage. While talking to the media, the air chief said that these aircraft would enhance the PAF's capability to counter any internal and external threats. He said the PAF would perform its duties as envisaged by the government. The PAF has acquired a squadron of F16A/B aircraft which were in use of the Royal Jordanian Air Force. The first batch has been flown by PAF pilots from Jordan while the remaining aircraft are planned to be flown in to Pakistan very soon.

Acquisition of these aircraft would not only augment the aerial defence of the country but also greatly assist in pilot training. Additionally, it is yet another manifestation of brotherly relations between the Kingdom of Jordan and Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the two countries' air forces.

End.
