Islamabad:Defence Day of Pakistan was celebrated in a befitting manner at all PAF Bases throughout the country.

The auspicious day was observed with a renewed pledge and determination to make "Fizaia" even more stronger and potent force to face any challenge.

The day started with special Du'a and Quran Khawani for the Shaheeds.

A special feature of the day was the change of guards ceremony at the Mazar of   Quaid-e-Azam in Karachi.

Aviation Cadets from Pakistan Air Force Academy, Risalpur assumed guard duties at the Mazar to honour the Father of the Nation. After the Aviation Cadets had assumed guard duties, Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Hassan, Air Officer Commanding PAF Academy, Risalpur offered Fateha and laid floral wreath to honour the Father of the Nation.  In the morning a PAF contingent led by Air Marshal Mirza Zafar Hussain, Air Officer Commanding Southern Air Command, offered "Fateha" and laid floral wreath on behalf of Chief of the Air Staff at the grave of Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas (Shaheed), Nishan-e- Haider. Aerial and static display of aircraft and allied weapons exhibition was conducted at PAF Base, Chaklala, PAF Base, Peshawar, PAF Base, Masroor(Karachi), PAF Base, Lahore and PAF Base, Samungli (Quetta). On the occasion of Defence Day Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mahmood Ahmed, Chief of the Air Staff said in his message, "It is on this day that we pay tribute and homage to the heroic struggle of the brave men of our Armed Forces who embraced Shahadat in the line of a sacred duty. The dauntless valour and determination of our Army, Navy and Air Force thwarted the nefarious designs of the ememy and turned her aggression into a shameless defeat for brute force.

Undoubtedly, the role of Pakistan Air Force exhibited an outstanding professional acumen, esprit de corps and commitment to the noble cause of defending the aerial frontiers of our motherland. Their valiant struggle also received an unflinching support from the people of Pakistan. On the Defence Day of Pakistan-2007, I would like to reassure my countrymen that Pakistan Air Force is strong, potent and vigilant. PAF is destined to rebuff any threat to the aerial frontiers of our beloved homeland".

Pakistan Air Force

There is no doubt in the minds of military strategists that PAF pilots have a proven record of extraordinary success against Indian Air Force. In order to maintain air power speriority against India, PAF shall acquire sophisticated fighter and bomber planes from USA followed by Chinese assistance in the local manufacturing of JF-17. The use of Russian jet engines in JF-17 may hit snags from Russia under Indian pressure. Thus, Pakistan must seek influential relationship with Russia also in order to get a friendly support over JF-17 issues.
Pakistan must not overlook continual Indian pressure against arms suppliers to Pakistan. Pakistan must notify India that such pressures are hostile and against confidence building mechanism between India and Pakistan. If India persists with its hegemonistic policies then Pakistan must put diplomatic pressure and logistic strategies against India in order to gain favourable response from India. Pakistan shall never allow its Air Force to become victim of Indian Diplomatic Sabotage.
