No conflict if institutions follow constitution: Gilani

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Wednesday said if all institutions followed the constitution, there would be no conflict among them.
Talking to the media here after attending a Pakistan Scouts Association event, the PM said, "It is the responsibility of every individual and institution to follow the constitution."
He said he had the right to appeal against the decision of the Supreme Court, adding that if everyone would follow trichotomy of the constitution, then there would be no problem for any institution. To a question about drone attacks, the premier said Pakistan had a clear stand on such attacks. Pakistan and the US are negotiating in accordance with the recommendations of the parliamentary committee for new engagements with NATO/ISAF and the US and these negotiations are not completed yet, therefore, it is early to jump to a conclusion, he added.
About appointment of new judges to the Supreme Court, Gilani said the Ministry of Law and Justice would decide on the issue. The PM also reiterated his government's desire to expand ties with India in diverse fields, especially trade, and maintain peace and promote prosperity at regional level.
He said, "Pakistan is a peace-loving and moderate country and wants to have friendly and cordial relations with all countries, including India."
Meanwhile, an MQM delegation met Gilani at the PM's House, and expressed solidarity with the coalition government. The delegation comprised MQM lawmakers and Rabta Committee members. They appreciated the PM for upholding the cause of constitution and democracy.
Also on Wednesday, Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Water and Power Minister Naveed Qamar and Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Dr Asim Hussain called on the PM, and discussed the political situation and preparation of the budget with a view to provide relief to the people, creation of jobs and mobilisation of domestic resources.
