No-confidence vote : Bhootani threatens to go to court
25 December, 2012
QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly Speaker Muhammad Aslam Bhootani on Monday threatened to move the court if the provincial assembly voted on a no-confidence motion against him in its Wednesday's (tomorrow) session.
He made the announcement while addressing a news conference at the Balochistan Assembly premises. "No-trust motion presented against me in the Balochistan Assembly has several faults and shortcomings as it does not meet constitutional and legal requirement," Bhootani said.
He said that according to the rules and regulations of the Balochistan Assembly, a member would submit a no-confidence motion notice to the assembly secretary who would then inform all members of the assembly through notices within seven days.
The BA speaker said that in his case, no constitutional and legal way was adopted, as a minister moved the no-trust motion instead of the assembly members, while according to the rules and regulations, a minister cannot table a no-confidence motion. He said that the assembly secretariat has not yet dispatched notices regarding no-confidence motion to postal address of the lawmakers, therefore, voting on the no-trust motion could not be held on Wednesday.
End.
