ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday came down hard on his political opponents for criticism on the implementation of National Action Plan (NAP), saying it was being criticised for mere point-scoring.

“We are in state of war, which is not only fought with guns but also has a physiological front. Our politicians started criticising the government and its policies without realising that we all were doing that our enemies wished for to spread panic,” he replied to a question at an event. The event was organised at National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Headquarters to launch passport fee collection service. The minister defended the government’s anti-terrorism policies as well his ministry’s performance and said it was quite astonishing that NAP was being criticised by those who had not even read the document.

Nisar criticised the PPP leadership and the Sindh government for “politicking on serious national security issues,” observing that through such attitude disappointment and despair were being spread. However, he claimed that effective implementation of NAP has yielded results. “We have gained success in war against terrorism. Media can observe a visible decline in terrorism incidents that are now rare in Pakistan. We must keep in view the facts that terrorists are on the run and are, therefore, targeting soft targets like education institutions,” he noted.

He said some elements were bent upon spreading hopelessness in society and added “I have decided to put all record before the nation, and in Senate, as reply for those who are being upon point-scoring”
