ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday filed a supplementary reference in the Islamabad Accountability Court against former prime minister and minister of water and power Raja Pervez Ashraf in the Naudero-II rental power plant (RPP) case.

The names of Iqbal Z Ahmed and MN Beg were also included as accused in the investigation report but the reference against them could not be filed due to a restraining order passed by the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday, NAB sources said.

The order has refrained the NAB authorities from arresting the accused and taking any coercive measure against them. The NAB chairman has decided that a supplementary reference against Iqbal Z Ahmed and MN Beg would be filed after disposal of their writ petitions.

He directed the prosecution division to actively pursue the matter in the court to get the restraining order vacated. An interim reference was filed earlier against nine other accused persons for alleged misuse of authority in violation of rules while awarding unsolicited RPP at Naudero-II and shifting of equipment from one project to another.

End.
