03 August, 2012
Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, leader of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir National Front, Nayeem Ahmad Khan has expressed shock over the killing of a 22-year-old Kashmiri youth, Aaqib, of Balapora Shopian by Indian troops.
Nayeem Ahmad Khan in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the incidents of Shopian and Bandipora had once again made it clear that the honour, lives and property were not safe in Kashmir.
He said that the killing of Aaqib and Hilal Dar were deep wounds inflicted by the Indian troops in the holy month of Ramazan.
The General Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League (JKPFL), Muhammad Rafiq Ganai, while addressing a public meeting at Shopian, where Aaqib was beaten to death, said, "We cannot tolerate innocent killings anymore."
He appealed to the international community to exert pressure on New Delhi to halt human rights violations in the territory.
Meanwhile, APHC leader and the Chairperson of Muslim Khawateen Markaz, Yasmeen Raja in her statement termed the killings as the worst kind of state terrorism. She urged India to come forward and resolve the dispute over Kashmir, which was pre-requisite for regional peace.
Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement chief, Farida Behanji has strongly condemned the recent killings. She said the armed forces in Kashmir were carrying out killings under the cover of draconian laws like Armed Forced Special powers Act (AFSPA).
End.
