Indian troops martyr 12 Kashmiris in July

SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their continued acts of state terrorism martyred 12 innocent Kashmiris including two young boys during the last month of July.
According to the data, of those martyred, one young boy was killed in a fake encounter and another ruthlessly tortured to death by the personnel of paramilitary forces in their camp.
During the month, 170 people were critically injured when Indian police and paramilitary personnel used brute force against peaceful demonstrators at different places in the occupied territory. 54 civilians including young boys were taken into custody during siege and search operations.
Complete strike was observed for the second consecutive day, today, in Shopian against the killing of a young boy, Aaqib Ahmad, by Indian troops in the area. Clashes were also reported between the personnel of Indian paramilitary forces and protesters in the town.
APHC Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing a gathering in Srinagar termed the murder of the Kashmiri youth as a horrendous example of state terrorism. He said that the incident had vindicated the Hurriyet stand that till the extraordinary powers remained vested with the troops such incidents would continue to recur.
Veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement appealed Amnesty International to help stop massacre of the Kashmiris by Indian troops. The leader of Peoples Freedom League, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai visited the family of the youth at his residence in Shopian, today.
The JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement condemned the use of brute force against the participants of Khanyar Chalo march.
The authorities restricted Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan and Zafar Akbar Butt to their residences in Srinagar to prevent them from going to Shopian to express solidarity with the martyr’s family. Hurriyet leaders, Yasmeen Raja, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo and Muhammad Maqbool Sufi were taken into custody by Indian police in Pampore while they were on way to Shopian.
Illegally detained Hurriyet leader, Masarat Aalam Butt, was re-arrested shortly after his release from Kathua jail in Jammu.
In London, the Executive Director of Kashmir Centre, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl in a statement said that the gruesome murder in Shopian was inviting the conscience of the international community to stop the highhandedness of the Indian administration.
