Kashmiris want progress on core issue of Kashmir

SRINAGAR: The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik has said that Kashmir is a burning issue which, needs to be resolved on priority basis in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.
Muhammad Yasin Malik addressing a big public gathering at Seer in Sopore, today, said that the Kashmiris welcomed and supported the recently held parleys between Pakistan and India in Islamabad, but at the same time wanted progress on the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir.He warned that putting the Kashmir dispute on the backburner would prove disastrous for the whole South Asian region.
Earlier, Muhammad Yasin Malik and other JKLF leaders were accorded a warm welcome on their arrival in the area. Participants of the rally chanted high-pitched slogans in favour of Azadi. The rally was also addressed by Advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt.
Senior APHC leader Shabbir Ahmad Shah addressing party workers in Islamabad town said that Kashmir was not a territorial issue between Pakistan and India, rather it was an issue of right to self-determination of millions of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
APHC leader Zafar Akbar Butt addressing a party meeting in Naugam reiterated that the Kashmiris would continue their peaceful liberation struggle till its logical conclusion.
In Geneva, Kashmiri representatives, Altaf Hussain Wani and Sardar Amjad Yousaf taking part in the debate on the update by the United Nations High Commissioner on Human Rights in the 21 session of United Nations Human Rights Council, said that continued culture of impunity for the occupation forces was responsible for thousands of disappearances and other human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.
